Try These Local, Woman-Owned Businesses in Spokane
As Spokane begins to reopen in the wake of COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to support local and small businesses in Spokane. Small, women and minority owned businesses are especially vulnerable during economic crises. But, why is it important to support local right now?
Not only do small businesses provide a unique, personalized experience and generally better customer service, they also tend to support other local businesses through ordering and partnership practices. This means that when you support one local business, you’re probably actually supporting multiple businesses!
But more than that, the economic impact of shopping local is significant. According to the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, “for every $1,000,000 in sales, independent retail stores generate $450,000 in local economic activity, compared to just $170,000 for chains. Among restaurants, the figures are $650,000 for independents and $300,000 for chains.”
In other words, for every $1 spent at a local business, $0.45 stays in the local economy, or $0.65 if it was spent at a restaurant. Compare that to just $0.17 of every dollar spent at a chain staying in Spokane.
If you’re in need of a little pampering and self care, and want to support local, woman owned businesses, here’s a few great options:
